Sustainable Funding Loop for Arts Education
THE TEAM AT GREENWAY ARTS ALLIANCE understands the transformative power of community, bringing together LA students, artists, entrepreneurs and residents for the benefit of all since 1997.
The Alliance founded and manages three programs:
- the Greenway Court Theater
- the Greenway Institute for the Arts
- the Melrose Trading Post market where you can hang out any Sunday at the corner of Melrose and Fairfax
The Theater bustles all year with both professional and rookie productions as well as classes. It’s also home to the popular weekly spoken word event, Da Poetry Lounge.
The Institute provides art classes to kids in the West Hollywood area, from poetry workshops to theater, visual arts and dance classes. Classes are taught by artist-teachers from across the country.
The Melrose Trading Post is the financial engine of the whole project, providing the majority of funding for the Theater and the Institute. You can buy artisanal and vintage items at the market and when you need a rest, pick up something tasty at the food court and listen to diverse musicians at one of the two stages. Listed as one of the top 20 things to do in Los Angeles on TripAdvisor, the market draws visitors from around the world.
