Detail-Oriented Painter Puts Safety and Customer Service First
WITH A COAT OF PAINT, YOU CAN improve your home’s curbside appeal and protect your investment. Since 2004, Armando and Kim Ruiz of Hands On Painting have provided top quality painting services for home and business owners alike. “One hundred percent satisfaction guaranteed is a tough mark to live by,” says Armando. “But we strive for that!"
Armando manages each job through the lens of safety, which is his top priority. The team starts by thoroughly cleaning the jobsite, prepping the surfaces and locating potential dangers, such as electricity or soft wood where they might lean a ladder. Combing over the site also enables them to identify any areas that need repair, caulking or sanding. “We give clients our options, so they can choose if they want to replace old wood or fill it.”
Hands On Painting’s bids generally land in the middle. Kim states, “If we bid too low we won’t have enough money in the project to do it right.”
The business has grown organically over the decades with a simple focus. Armando explains: “We build trust with our customers, and our reputation grows!”

Hands On Painting has been doing all our painting for 20 years. We own retail buildings, self-storage buildings, multi-family apartment buildings and restaurant buildings.
Back in early 2000’s Armando was working for another company that we used and he went out on his own to start his own business. I wouldn’t keep using Armando if he wasn’t good. His quality is perfect. If ever anything is wrong, he’ll stay and get it fixed or otherwise tend to the issue quickly.
I call Armando directly on his cell phone and if I leave a message he always calls back. I email with Kim for billing, etc. There are no issues with communication.
We still bid out every single job. Armando is usually right in the middle. Never the cheapest and never the highest. They use good quality paints so we have never had any warranty issues. Honestly for 20 years, I’ve been super happy.

Armando is reliable, always ahead of schedule and his crew is great! We hired Armando to paint our medical office in Montrose and one of our commercial building in Glendale. We really like his work and his crew. They are very respectful of our tenants and their business when on the premises painting. Armando has also been flexible with his schedule to work around our tenants and worked through the weekend to be ahead of schedule. If something unexpected happens, he presents it first before proceeding. His communication has been terrific.

We were fixing up my mother-in-law’s house to put it on the market and I hired Hands On Painting to paint the interior and part of exterior of the house. They’re local—I see their vans around. Their work was excellent! Armando was very responsive and was always at the property overseeing the crew. He has great attention to detail! I got three bids and his bid was right in line. They finished on time and on budget. Everything was done professionally and I was very impressed. Armando works to make the client happy.

We hired Hands On Painting to do an interior refresh with all new paint in our two-story home. I started with 3 bids from local companies and Armando’s landed right in the middle. It was his engaging personality and attentive customer service that sold me. Communication with Armando throughout the process was outstanding, and I couldn’t be happier with quality of the work. I told him “you’ve exceeded my expectations.” I thought that we would have to leave our home for the projected 5-6 day job timeline, but Armando told us that they could work around us. His crew was really, really good. I mean they were in my house for a week, kids at home online for school, and my wife and I working full time from home. Even with all of this, the process went smooth. The entire crew was incredibly thoughtful and considerate, almost invisible—and not in a bad way. Pricing was very fair and definitely a good value. We even had a few surprises arise during the job, but the budget remained unaffected. I’ve already recommended Hands On Painting to a close friend and will continue to do so.

Hands on Painting is efficient, cost effective and competitive with pricing. Armando always does what he says he will do. My parents had their home painted by another individual and I wished that I’d had the opportunity to recommend Armando to them.
Armando works hard. I can’t tell you how impressed I am. He has a full team but he rolls up his sleeves and dives in. Armando initially did interior work in my home about 10 years ago. He ended up also painting the exterior of a couple of units we own and a two-car detached garage. He did all the trim, replaced some vents, and did some minor repair work before painting.
He’s straightforward and direct. If he gives you a price, he will work within that estimate. When I asked him to look at some additional work outside of original estimate, he didn’t take advantage of me.
One of his strengths is giving a realistic time frame and sticking to it. He makes a commitment to his customer and honors that.
After he finished doing the units, I asked him to come back and go over one area that I was concerned about. No charge, but he took care of it. Turned out that my area of concern was damage done by tenants, not an issue with Armando’s work. He still didn’t charge to address it.
He has a group of guys that are not part-time painters—they are full time and are very good at what they do. His workers are also very respectful when they come to your home.
I know adding Hands on Painting to your platform will benefit you.

My mother owns a house in L.A. Although I am some distance away, I handle her affairs as needed. Following an exterior inspection by her home insurance carrier, I received notice of repairs required to maintain coverage. Given that we were in the midst of a pandemic, I was concerned because the repairs needed to be done within a given timeframe.
As a retired investigator for a California regulatory agency, I have known of people contracting workers and being made promises, then being left 'high and dry' without the work being done correctly or at all. Given this experience, I tend not to be very trusting.
I was referred to Armando of Hands On Painting. I explained what needed to be done and the time constraints. I provided insurance photos showing flaking paint and rotting eaves. Armando listened then stated, "I can do it for you, but I like to do things right." Being some distance away, I decided to trust Armando at his word.
Throughout the process, Armando was very responsive and professional in our interaction. He was transparent, letting me know that additional replacement of materials would affect the initial estimate but he would only charge me for the materials needed.
The job was finished within the indicated time frame and within the range of the initial estimate. My mother is happy with the work, and she has received compliments from her neighbors.
My interaction with Armando, from start to finish, was very favorable. He is honest, professional and true to his word.
