Urban Planners and Architects Unite to Fight Homelessness
ACROSS NORTHEAST LOS ANGELES, LA Más partners with working-class communities of color, especially non-native English speakers, renters, immigrants, and undocumented residents, to address challenges like displacement and rising rents. Through capacity building, popular education, culture and wellness-focused gatherings, LA Más helps residents strengthen their ties to nature and each other while equipping them with the tools to engage in the collective action needed to address these challenges.
LA Más’ work centers around two main focus areas: Community Housing and Community Economies. By fostering class solidarity among neighbors, they create alternative forms of affordable housing, provide resources and operate a hub where working class neighbors have options to grow their economic livelihood.
With community at the forefront, LA Más is working towards a Northeast Los Angeles that has options for working class neighbors to stay rooted in the communities they love and call home.
