Intensive Courses Create Top Leaders in Local Government, Charity
SINCE 1999, LEADERSHIP PASADENA HAS PROVIDED professional development for individuals who wish to take an active role in shaping Pasadena’s future. LP’s six-month program brings together people from diverse backgrounds with the goal of creating informed, motivated and collaborative leaders who will build equitable, resilient communities and organizations. weaknesses to take on community leadership roles within the San Gabriel Valley.
The program includes: an annual cohort of 20-25 community leaders who participate in two intensive leadership retreats, 48 hours of personal executive-level leadership education, 20 hours of community education, plus field trips and community impact projects.
Sessions are held at locations such as Caltech, Pasadena City Council Chambers, Pasadena Playhouse, Parsons, and Tournament of Roses. Trainers are local community and business leaders as well as content experts with whom participants build relationships.
LP also offers a “Homegrown Leaders” youth workshop series focused on helping 18-24 year old’s transition from post-graduation to their first professional steps. Selected scholarships and inclusion in the program are offered to military veterans, millennial leaders and Women in NAACP (WIN). LP strives to represent the full breadth of community leadership across NGOs, entrepreneurs, city employees, and business professionals.
