Organization Support Angelenos' Connection to Nature
WE KNOW THAT BIOPHILIA, our innate drive to connect with the natural world, is closely linked to our wellbeing. An understanding of our local environment is also critical to our ability to care of it.
The Nature Nexus Institute (NNI) works to develop Angelenos’, especially children’s, comfort level, appreciation and understanding of our local natural habitat. They connect thousands of people to nature each year through guided walks, art and science workshops, and field trips throughout the Ballona Creek Watershed.
They collaborate with local businesses, nonprofits, library branches and state and county agencies to maximize the diversity of programming and public reach. NNI is a member of the STEM Partnership, collaborating with 40+ organizations to provide online science programming to thousands of Los Angeles Unified School District students.
NNI is dedicated to making nature accessible for all. That starts with understanding the obstacles that prevent marginalized communities from accessing nature. It also means following the lead of diverse Angelenos as they engage with nature in their own unique ways.
