Plant a Tree, Green Your City with This Passionate Team
LIVING A METROPOLITAN LIFESTYLE in Los Angeles, we can easily forget that, less than an hour’s drive away, the mountains of Southern California are teeming with free flowing creeks, native flora and wildlife. TreePeople Land Trust (TPLT) is dedicated to preserving these unique mountain ranges, educating residents about sound stewardship practices and providing opportunities to enjoy our local ecosystems.
ATPLT works with a combination of dedicated school groups and community volunteers to restore sites that have been previously degraded by urban intrusion. Within the 3,100 acres TPLT protects, these hardworking stewards help remove invasive species from mountain creeks and plant native flora, grown by TPLT from locally collected seeds and cuttings. TPLT also provides public access to some of the most pristine trails in the Santa Monica Mountains. Through TPLT’s programs, students and volunteers implement naturewise concepts, developing a deep appreciation for local wildlands and learning how to tread lightly within them.
