Plaster and Stucco Craftsman Tends to Historic Homes
"THE BEAUTY OF PLASTER is that it is an art and a craft," says Greg Flores of USA Plastering. With over 35 years in the field, Greg has mastered the craft of plastering, ranging from a basic patch and finish, to artisan and ornate finishes. Greg specializes in interior plastering, stucco and drywall repairs including the repair and restoration of plaster and stucco in historic homes. He is meticulous and detail-oriented, and can match any plaster or stucco finish.
Whether he’s patching a hole from electrical work or fixing a water-damaged lath and plaster archway, Greg takes extra care with his clients' homes. He covers furnishings and floors with tarps and tape, and seals the doors with plastic sheets so that no dust escapes into the rest of the house.
With very few craftsman plasterers left in the trade, Greg is a true artisan, classically trained by experts from yesteryear. "Plastering is a dying art, and there are only a select few who have the knowledge and skills to restore the original plaster finishes," says Greg.

About 6 years ago I had all of my windows replaced and I needed someone to fix the plaster on the interior and exterior of my home. Greg came over and we had a good rapport. He is very accommodating and his work is great. He’s my go-to guy now. When there is something he cannot handle, he has people he has worked with for years who can do it. He recommended someone to install my front and back doors and he was great.
I have recommended Greg to friends and they have been very satisfied.
Greg always shows up when he says he will and doesn’t waste time when he is on the job. He does good work at a fair price.

I have a 1940's Tudor home that has plaster walls and stucco on the exterior. I needed stucco done on some exterior walls that I had built, so I called Greg at USA Plastering. I wanted the finish to match the house's finish and he did a fantastic job matching it perfectly. I then had him paint the walls and that turned out very well too. Additionally, I had some holes in the stucco exterior of my house that he patched and they matched the integrity of exterior perfectly. None of the patches are noticeable at all. He's very much a craftsman when it comes to his ability to work with plaster and stucco. I was a very pleased at the clean job and no mess left anywhere on my property which was refreshing.
I have additional properties that have plaster interiors too. I hired Greg to do various jobs at each one over the past few years. He's done complete interior and exterior painting, demolition of interior walls from water damage and rebuilding the walls with plaster, patching interior and exterior holes with plaster and stucco. He's also built me four gates that were perfect. I've had him redo various projects that other contractors did incorrectly. Greg doesn't cut corners like so many others do. He's also very careful not to damage anything. He covers the floors, furniture and property and doesn't rush. He takes his time to make sure what he's doing turns out perfectly, since he cares about his reputation and takes pride in his work. I've never been disappointed with anything he's done for me and would never even consider hiring anyone else.

You’re getting the end of a dying trade with Greg Flores. I live in a historical area where the houses are all lathe and plaster and Spanish style stucco. There are not many people left that who do that work. Guys want to come in and throw up a piece of drywall, but that doesn’t work with these homes. Greg does a great job of duplicating the plaster and stucco with our 1928 home. We have used him for years as have many people in our neighborhood.
Originally I found him because one of our walls had leaked and I wanted the new wall to match the rest. Greg was the only guy who could do it.
He is also very clean. He lays tarps where he works and never leaves a mess.
And I like him! We are like friends.
I highly recommend Greg! He is willing to do whatever you want that is in his power to do.

My wife and I are extremely critical about any work done to our historic home and Greg has been a savior on many projects. I’ve hired Greg several times for both small and large projects. Greg restored everything perfectly to the period of our 1920s home. He is a true artist at his craft.
Greg initially did some exterior stucco work when we bought the house a year ago. I had a wall heater taken out of my upstairs unit and the exterior hole needed to be repaired. We also rewired the whole house and Greg did the interior plastering. When he repairs stucco or plaster, you would never knew there was a hole there at all.
He is easygoing and easy to get a hold of either by phone or text. I compared his pricing for the initial job with three other people and Greg was around the middle to higher end, but he had good reviews and when he came out to look at the project he was good to deal with. Then I learned he had done a lot of work for my neighbor over 10 or 15 years. I have now recommended him to three or four people in my neighborhood.
We were very thankful to have found Greg because my mother-in-law had originally referred me to a stucco and plaster guy she had used, but he was about to retire. Again, Greg is a master of unfortunately a dying art. We have other projects coming up that we will hire Greg for and couldn’t be happier with his work.
